The Photographic Journey
Instructor: Claudia Smigrod
Our
lives are layered with information that informs our creative
voice. Using digital photography as our medium and the Amalfi
Coast our source, we will explore and document our Italian
experience through the magic of photography.
To live in Italy is to exist in the moment.
Each cast of light forms deep within us creating visual
memories. These visions leave us forever changed. The camera
preserves these experiences. The images will serve as evidence
of our time spent together amongst the beauty of the Italian
landscape.
Working digitally, participants will create
visual sketchbooks, or journals of our travels as we embrace
 the
architecture and landscape of Italy. Daily critiques will
serve as venues to gain insight into the photographic process.
The principles of photography and camera controls will be
stressed, along with composition and content.
Each student must bring a digital camera.
We will work with the manual settings to gain complete control
of the photographic process. Students are encouraged to
bring journals and sketchbooks.
